Live answering can attract big business
In small business there are two philosophies. Stay small and cater to a niche market that you are comfortable with or attract big business and grow. 
When I think about this topic I envision a small dog barking at a much larger dog. A fierce, loud bark manifests from a furry live football to announce to the big dog that, “yes, I have the confidence to compete.” The little guy may get into a fight but he has brought attention to himself as a worthy competitor.
In order to compete for big business contracts it is imperative that small businesses project a large corporate image. This can be achieved by; being active in branding your business, developing professional advertising materials, providing exceptional service or products and/or hire a PR firm.
An additional approach is to hire a telephone answering service. Clients and potential clients will be impressed when a friendly voice answers the phone day or night. This customer service gives your client the assurance that you are professional and large enough to handle their account. Often times this is your potential client’s first impression of how well you manage your own business. It is a simple and inexpensive way to give you the edge on your competition.
