I was talking with my SuperPages.com billing representative today and learned that we have an annual contract that is automatically renewed every year if I don’t give a 30-day notice. No written or verbal notice will be sent by SuperPages.com to tell me that the contract is coming up for renewal and once the annual renewal date has come and gone we are bound to our SuperPage.com advertisement for another year.
I wasn’t complaining or wanting to cancel my subscription but I was taken aback that it was my responsibility to cancel an annual contract without notice of renewal from the vendor. How many Superpages.com clients have missed the opportunity to review or cancel an advertisement within the window provided?
We have online advertisements in many markets across the nation with a variety of vendors. Keeping track of them is like herding cats but it has become necessary due to the way in which the terms were written…to take advantage of unsuspecting clients.
The morale of this story; read, understand and question terms and conditions of the contract you are signing and don’t trust that the salesperson will explain the terms especially those that do not promote their sale. And lastly, be willing to not sign on the dotted line if the terms seem unreasonable.
