Blog for Benefits

Last week I went to the movie theater to see Julie and Julia. It is a big event because my trips to the movie theater are few and far between.  It is difficult for me to get out and spend a few hours without my MacBook Pro and Blackberry Curve easily accessible.  And where is this blog leading?  To blogging.   Without giving the story away the movie is inspirational to those contemplating taking the plunge into the blogging world.  

The benefits of blogging outweigh the reasons not to blog. With the popularity of the Internet and potential client’s fingers no longer walking through the yellow pages, blogging provides businesses with the opportunity to showcase expertise, create an additional channel for outside communications and contribute to website SEO.

For some of us it will take a bigger nudge than a movie featuring a blogger.  I remember the day this past January when I announced to our staff that we were starting a blog and I wanted everyone to participate.  I had dreams of my IT guy writing about SMS text message confirmation and my Director of Operations chiming in on exceptional virtual receptionist services.  I received and posted their blogs but it takes a persistent force to keep the blog alive and moving.

So yes to blog but make certain you are committed for the long run.  No one wants to follow a blog site that comes to a screeching halt.
